FOR ENGLISH VERSION GO TO THE BOTTOM

¡Vamos a rockear juntos! One love, Rock!

First of all, the band is playing for the first time in Argentina. What are your expectations for that show? As you might be aware, there is a sort of a “legion” of ARMORED SAINT fans in Buenos Aires. Did you get in touch with any of them?

My expectation for the show is to play for excited fans that have been waiting for the band for over 30 years, as we too have been waiting to play Argentina for over 30 years. I appreciate the legion of ARMORED SAINT fans in Buenos Aires. Although, I have not gotten in touch with any of them, I appreciate that they exist.

It’s been three years since Win Hands Down (2015) and the success o f the record interms  of sales marks something. What is your interpretation about those figures? Do you think that more people are showing their interest on ARMORED SAINT?

Our record, Win Hands Down, released in 2015 on Metal Blade Records, has been a success on many levels; personally speaking it is my best-recorded drum performance of all the records I’ve made.

Thank you to Joey Vera (bass)  for the inspiration and direction, I feel we finally made a record that represents the ARMORED SAINT live sound, in the studio. Thank you to Jay Ruston for mixing the record and to the production team of Josh Newell and Joey Vera as the producer.

I do believe that more people are showing interest in ARMORED SAINT.  At the same time, I wish more people were buying the record to reflect higher sales.

When you visit most of the group’s videos on Youtube the usual comment is that the band is “great” but “underrated”. Also, that might have some relation with the “cult” status that ARMORED SAINT obtained for the metalhead ideal. Do you agree with the fans comments or the band being in a cult status?

PH – Stephanie Cabral

I believe that ARMORED SAINT is a great live band.  The fact that we are considered underrated is true. Although, I wish more focus was put on our songwriting and musicianship to lift us out from the underrated status.

I appreciate the legion of ARMORED SAINT fans that remain loyal and have grown throughout the decades.  Therefore, I’m not clear why the metal head fans would still consider us to have a cult status.  Spread the word and shine the ARMORED SAINT light.

You stated recently that a new album is in being composed. How is the development of that new material? What can you anticipate about it?

Yes, we are writing and recording demo songs for our new 2019 ARMORED SAINT release on Metal Blade Records. My brother Phil (guitar) and I have contributed two full songs to John (vocals) and Joey for consideration for the record, so far.  Our ideas are embarking on new musical creative endeavors, attempting to focus on the purity of Heavy Metal creative songs, taking some risks with creatively twisting musical elements and arrangement ideas.

I can anticipate a very creative musical song orientated, artistic approach to the songs on the new 2019 ARMORED SAINT record.

What kind of music are you listening while you are in the making of a new studio album?

All kinds of music, from Jazz, Blues, Classical to Classic Rock, some Pop and some new Heavy Metal as well. My musical appetite is vast. I’ve been watching the television channel called AXSS TV, and have learned a lot and continued learning from the interviews I see, of past successful musical bands and artists. It is a very inspirational TV station.

It’s been 36 years since ARMORED SAINT started working together. Today, how do you see the band after your last reunion? What are the most positive aspects that you observe in the group since 1999?

Our band ARMORED SAINT has gone through many changes, some good and some challenging.  However, today I feel that the band is sounding the best it has sounded in our career. Our live show is rocking and well paced. John Bush’s Vocals are sounding stronger than ever. The chemistry of ARMORED SAINT is one of the most positive aspects of the group. Since 1999, although the group members have other active projects we can still get together and produce the ARMORED SAINT live show quickly and consistently, which is a blessing.

Gonzo, do you have any message for your argentinian fans?

I want to thank all the argentinian fans for keeping ARMORED SAINT in their thoughts and it will be a dream come true to perform for the first time in Argentina and South America. I encourage and hope that all argentinian fans come out and enjoy the ARMORED SAINT live show. We are ready to rock your face off.  Let’s Rock ‘n Roll together! One Love, Rock!!!
